Discount Tiles For Tiling A Shower Pan

Using discount tiles for tiling a shower pan may be just a great idea to save some money and still get a great looking shower. Here are some considerations though if you decide to use cheap tiles or discontinued tiles.

Sometimes what you get with cheap tiles are tiles that are really seconds. That may be OK too but then again what that may mean is the tiles vary more than standard tiles both in size and shape and maybe even in thickness.

An installer can work around that but...

The finished project may show the variation since the tile setter will have to even up the tile with variation in the width of grout lines.

What's more and maybe even worse...

Any variation in tile beyond a certain point forces the installer to spend time adjusting each tile to get a best fit and any money saved on the tile is spent in additional time in the installation. Somebody is going to pay.

In truth especially if the project includes building shower pans for tile or a shower pan installation the cost of tile is a minor part of the whole project in most cases. Getting top quality tile is a better use of money likely when looking at the whole project cost.

Using discount tiles may save some money but then again trying to save money on tile may cost you both in the appearance of the finished project and in the cost of putting the tile on the wall or floor or ceiling of whatever you;re dealing with.
