Tile Ready Shower Base Pan

It would be nice to just buy a tile ready shower base pan all ready for tile and skip all the trouble and mess of building a shower pan with mortar. Fortunately that is possible and the premier source for just that is the TileRedi product. Here's what you get with the leading tile ready shower pan.

Instead of a multi-layer mortar sloped base, the TileRedi product is a foam base with a sealed waterproof layer on top. The rigid foam after being installed sits ready for tile installation.

The only mortar work required consists of just a thin mortar coat, not sloped, that serves as an anchor and a seat. The more level the base, the easier is the installation so getting the subfloor right is still essential.

A special drain is part of the system and with it you no longer need worry about the buried drain holes as you have with mortar bases.

Tile goes right over the installed pan, though epoxy mortar must be used to make sure the stick of the mortar is right.

This is a much less highly skilled and tricky kind of shower base installation. That's one reason why it's often used in many multi-installation projects such as hospitals and hotels. The other reason it gets used is there is no need for waiting for mortar layers to dry. The complete installation can be completed at one time.

For an amateur, it's possible to get a leakproof shower without mastering all the tricks of a traditional shower base.

All this comes at a price though. Just the materials for the TileRedi tile ready shower base costs nearly as much as completed showers made the traditional way. The additional tile ready shower base cost may still be justified in the special circumstances mentioned.
